Why do I keep getting this problem? I've authenticated correctly and I'm able to fetch and upload CMS files, but the VSCode extension doesn't detect it.

Hi Sasha - If you're using the new global config (cli v7+) then the VSCode extension hasn't been update yet to identify those configs. We are working ...
